Bombardier TRAXX locomotives
The TRAXX locomotive, which comes from the acronym Transnational Railway Applications with eXtreme Flexibility, is a project from the former ADtranz that would renew part of the electric fleet of the DB. By building the new machines, Bombardier has restructured its production lines "Transport" by configuring unified platforms per product. All machines are built in Kassel and sales have spread to Europeans countries, taking into account national specificities. Progress on electric power train and modularity allow the differentiation by three sets following the delivery dates, TRAXX1 to TRAXX 3. Note that apart from the TRAXX platform, which uses identical components, TRAXX can be built on demand, by a customized version.
